Radio dispatches
Radio dispatches, or ‘voice pieces’, are a staple of radio news programmes. They’re short inserts written and voiced by a reporter or correspondent either out in the field or in the studio.
They may be live or recorded; contain short clips of interviews or actuality.
And they may be anywhere between 30 and 90 seconds. Anything longer is usually a package.
A straight news report will focus on facts - punchy, factual; perhaps an eyewitness account.
A longer context or analysis piece gives you more scope but still needs to be as clear as possible.
